As part of our continued project to improve the coffee service at JOE & THE JUICE, we are excited to announce a new role being implemented in the NYC: ‘Barista Trainer’. The Barista Trainer will be positioned in a region, with a focus on improving the overall coffee service through behind-the-counter training, quality control and equipment maintenance.

The Barista Trainer will work closely with the Implementation manager and Regional manager to determine, and improve selected ‘focus stores’. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to improve their coffee skills, knowledge and progress their career. Training opportunities will be made available for career advancement with this role.

The ideal candidate will currently hold the role of Lead Barista. Training through Counter Culture Coffee is highly desired.

JOB SUMMARY:

As the barista trainer at Joe & the Juice, your role will be to up skill and improve the day-to-day coffee service behind our bars.

You will work closely with juicers, baristas and lead baristas to improve the performance of our ‘focus stores’ as identified by the Implementation manager and Regional manager. The Barista Trainer should demonstrate strong communication skills, excellent planning and execution skills, great business performance capabilities, and always have employee development as a vocal focus point in alignment with our operational expectations.

You will be stationed at selected stores throughout city during a ‘development period’ to help identify and troubleshoot coffee-related issues through behind-the-counter training. This will be achieved with staff training, coffee station re-organisation, equipment troubleshooting, and generally uplifting and improving the ‘coffee culture’ in our stores.

DESIRED CANDIDATE REQUIRMENTS:

  • Currently be a Lead Barista, or have previously been a lead barista, for a period of at least 3 months.
  • Passionate about speciality coffee and can demonstrate a highly level of practical coffee-making skills.
  • Good social skills, able to train/upskill other team members.
  • An understanding of coffee equipment troubleshooting. Must be able to determine issues with equipment and be able to troubleshoot where necessary.
  • Willing and able to travel to different stores across NYC, working multiple different teams.

HOURLY PAY RATE:

$17
